Play Professionals - A FILM PROJECT RECRUITING YOUNG PEOPLE INTO THE SECTOR (Flier)
Playwork South East, SkillsActive and the DfES have been working together to develop an exciting initiative to attract young people to the playwork sector in the form of a DVD entitled Play Professionals.
The film is intended to be shown in schools across the UK to young people aged 14-19, and promotes playwork as a viable and exciting career option. The initiative highlights the expansion of the sector and the need to draw young people into the playwork field.
The pilot viewings of the film have been extremely well received with some very positive feedback. Play Professionals provides an overview with feedback from real playworkers about what the job entails and why they enjoy being a playworker.
The film can also be used as an additional resource to support training providers.
Produced by Playwork South East, Play Professionals features staff and children from Haringey Play Association, Somerford Grove Adventure Playground, The Venture and Wansdyke Play Association. The film is around eight minutes long and shows some fantastic scenes of indoor and outdoor play opportunities and activities.
The film is being sold across the UK for £12.00 plus VAT and post and packaging (£1.50; please contact us for cost of sending multiple copies). It is an ideal resource for introductory training such as Making Choices and careers advice and information. Although the target age range is young people the film has been well received by people of all ages wishing to gain an overview of the profession.
